My cane just broke and I need to buy a new cane on monday. Which is the best cane from maxi aids and what do all of you think about the canes that glow in the dark for 6 hours. Also is a telescoping cane good?

Why are graphite canes being discontinued? That's what maxiaids said when I called them.

I absolutely adore my Adjustable Length Telescoping Cane!

"Expands to 56 and reduces to 23. Highest quality - best on the Market. The best grip - comes with wrist band. 4 section - can be extended to any size needed. One size fits all - will not collapse. Comes with rolling tip. Aluminum cane."

I might also add that it's extremely light, does not collapse easily, does not get caught in cracks on the sidewalk and is very easy to adjust. I've never been into canes but I never go anywhere when going out without this one.

I ordered the spirit graphite 5 section folding cane for now. In addition when I ordered the cane they told me that the graphite cane was being discontinued. I thought that was weird.

I thought of ordering the glow green folding cane http://www.maxiaids.com/store/prodView.asp?idproduct=6100
It glows in the dark for 6 hours but then I thought that there are times that I don't want to draw attention with the green glow like in a movie theater. So I didn't order it.I wanted the telescoping one but everyone on the board says that they collapse when your using it. When it's collapsed is it smaller than a folded cane?

No, it's a bit larger and that took some getting used to. But it's far easier to open and close and there's no rubber band to hit and/or snap at your hand. That said, the pieces of the cane can be taken apart if you so desire and probably put in a pouch. I've never done this. I just fold it up and stick it in a corner or under my chair. The thing that amazes me about it is that, even with being used alot, the tip is still good. I haven't needed to replace it. The grip is also very well defined, since it's built right into the plastic handle, so it's hard for the cane to slip in your hand, even when wet. There's also been no sign of the tape pealing etc. and I've had it for almost a year.
